CGI
Thanks to the generosity of CGI employees they raised more than
$48,600 in 2005. The funds raised helped develop the new Ages Cancer
Assessment Clinic which opened in 2007 at the General Campus to
assist patients and their families undergoing assessment and diagnosis
for lung, colorectal and prostate cancer.
Now in 2010, CGI Employees are again turning their attention to
cancer treatment, specifically the Centre for Innovative
Cancer Research at the new Cancer Centre also located at
the General Campus.
- Dr. John Bell’s preliminary trials of new oncolytic virus
therapies have shown a remarkable 70% response rate in tumors
that were resistant to conventional therapies. With this facility
in our community, it is our friends and family who will benefit
from clinical trials first.
- The new Centre for Innovative Cancer Research will attract
the best researchers and clinicians. This modern research facility
will attract and retain the best scientists, putting more brain
power behind our research institute and the potential for greater
discoveries in our community, which will result in better care
for our patients.
- With the expanded space, and streamlined process the new Centre
for Innovative Cancer Research (CICR) will provide, having a lab,
manufacturing and trial space together will allow for faster feedback,
retooling and testing of new treatments.
