In November, the McCleary family visited the newly name
John McCleary Laboratory for Stem Cell Research at the General
Campus. John McCleary was a multiple sclerosis patient who
took part in a pioneering stem cell study to reboot the
immune system and stop his MS symptoms. John passed away
in 2003, but his family supported a lab in the Centre in
his name to help researchers continue the search for a cure.
Pictured here (left to right) are: Gregor Hollander and
Jennifer Van Noort of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation; the
Stewart family – Sarah, Ross, Cathy (John’s
sister) and Jake; and David and Nancy McCleary (John’s
parents).
