It’s not too late to support the 20-20 Campaign. Since the launch in May 2008, our Cabinet has been working tirelessly to inspire others in the community to help raise $20 million in 20 months to support the largest expansion in the history of The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre. You can still be a part of this extraordinary effort before the campaign wraps up later this month. The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility that is better equipped to serve the growing number of cancer patients in our region. The first floor of the newly expanded centre now houses the radiation and psycho-social oncology areas, while the sunlit systemic therapy area is located on the second floor. Once complete, the third floor will be home to a cancer research centre, where some of the world’s brightest scientists are working together to discover and develop new therapies and treatments. As we work toward our $20 million-goal, and renovations continue at the existing centre, staff at the new facility has already started treating patients.Every day these dedicated health care providers share their excitement with us at being able to provide the best cancer care possible to their patients, and their gratitude for such a generous community.

Q: How does the environment at the newly expanded Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre enhance patient care?

A: We now have the latest in equipment and facilities. We still provide the very best cancer treatments and therapies to our patients, but in a more comfortable setting.

Q: How has the expansion improved the patients’ experience?

A: The old facility was so cramped that we often had to rush patients along in order to treat as many as possible. The new facility has increased capacity and staffing to reduce wait times, allowing us to provide more timely care to more patients, but in a relaxed atmosphere.

“While the donors who made this new Cancer Centre possible aren’t in here with us,we are grateful to them every single day. It is their commitment and compassion thatcreated this place and makes a difference in the lives of cancer patients every day.”
Cindy McLennan, Clinical Manager, System Therapy, Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre
