Lifesaving Research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
Researchers at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are making great progress
in developing stem cell treatments, cancer-fighting viruses, genetically customized
therapies and much more. They are also developing better ways to prevent and
diagnose disease, and investigating ways to make health care more effective
and efficient.
But they need your support.
Why support research?
- More patient trials: Research could directly
help you, or someone you love. Your support helps us conduct clinical
trials of promising new therapies for cancer, stroke, multiple
sclerosis, diabetes and more. More than 500 clinical trials are
going on at The Ottawa Hospital right now.
- Attracting the best researchers: The top physicians
and surgeons want to work in an innovative, research-intensive
environment. So your support for research helps ensure that The
Ottawa Hospital can attract and retain the best health care providers
in the world.
- Leveraging your support: Donations to research
have maximum impact, because researchers apply for grants from
external government agencies. Typically, every dollar you give
to research helps us bring in four more dollars from other sources.
What would your donation support?
There are many different research programs that need your support,
including:
- Stroke research
- Cancer research
- Heart and lung research
- Multiple sclerosis research
- Stem cell research
- Kidney research
- Vision research
- Diabetes and obesity research
- Thrombosis research
- Clinical trials
