CyberKnife - The Cutting Edge in Cancer Care
Help Revolutionize Cancer Care at
The Ottawa Hospital
More than 6,000 people in our community will be diagnosed
with cancer this year.
For some, CyberKnife may be the only treatment option available…donate
now.
About CyberKnife
Contrary to its name, the CyberKnife does not employ the
use of scalpels; it is the world’s first and only robotic
radiosurgery system and The Ottawa Hospital is one of only
three hospitals in the country, and first in Ontario, to offer
this life-saving technology.
Dr. John Sinclair, Neurosurgeon at TOH discusses
the impact
CyberKnife will have on the lives of cancer patients
in Ottawa
The Impact
of CyberKnife
With its state-of-the-art image-guided
software and its three-metre-long robotic arm CyberKnife
allows healthcare professionals to treat cancerous and
non-cancerous tumours anywhere in the body including the
brain, spine, lung, pancreas, liver, kidney and prostate.
Patients with previously inoperable tumours
may now become candidates for life-saving radiosurgery.
The use of CyberKnife as a treatment
option will reduce the number of invasive surgeries and
will decrease the number of radiation treatments –
meaning fewer side effects, less time in the hospital
and faster recovery time.
We Need
your Help to Ensure this
Technology is Available to Save Lives
Earlier this year The Ottawa Hospital Foundation
embarked on a $3.5 million campaign to ensure this state of
the art technology would be available at The Ottawa Hospital.
Thanks to the community’s generosity we have already
raised more than $3.3 million - please lend your support and
help us raise the remaining $150,000. Give
today and be a part of this medical revolution.
