Top Charity Golf Tournament Raises Record Amount for the Ottawa
Hospital
(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) – Members of the Royal
Ottawa Golf Club (ROGC) today held the most successful Golf Tournament
in the Ottawa area, raising a record $244,000 for The Ottawa Hospital
during their annual Royal Ottawa Golf Club Charity Classic Golf
Tournament. Thanks to government leveraging, the amount raised today
grows to an impressive $500,000.
The funds will be used to completely outfit a room in The Ottawa
Hospital’s new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the General Campus,
opening early next year. The ICU in the new Critical Care Wing will
contain nine additional beds and state-of-the-art medical equipment
to better treat some of its most critical patients.
This is the third year that Royal Ottawa Golf Club members have
raised funds for The Ottawa Hospital at their charity tournament.
“The new Intensive Care Unit will greatly improve patient
care in the community, and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club is playing
a vital role in that,” said Susan Doyle, President and CEO
of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. “We are so grateful for
their generosity. They should be very proud for helping to build
a better hospital for our region.”
“Once again, we are very pleased to be supporting The Ottawa
Hospital at our annual golf tournament,” said Graham Macmillan,
Tournament Chair, Royal Ottawa Golf Club Charity Classic, and Managing
Director, RBC Capital Markets. “Making a contribution to this
major construction project which will do so much for the community
is very satisfying.”
