Royal LePage and The Ottawa Hospital Foundation Team Up to Support
The Ottawa Hospital
(OTTAWA,
ONTARIO) – Royal LePage and The Ottawa Hospital Foundation
today announced an innovative partnership that will allow The Ottawa
Hospital’s 12,000 staff and physicians to support improvements
at The Ottawa Hospital when buying or selling their properties.
Through this new partnership, Hospital staff with no current realtor
can contact Royal LePage through a special number or e-mail address.
Once a transaction has taken place, a portion of the assigned realtor’s
commission can be forwarded to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation in
the form of a charitable donation by the buyer/seller.
For example, based on the price of an average home in Ottawa, between
$1,500 and $1,800 would be donated to the Foundation. The buyer/seller
won’t pay any additional fees and will receive a tax receipt
for the donation.
“Royal LePage is a true community leader, and we are so grateful
for their support of The Ottawa Hospital,” said Susan Doyle,
President and CEO, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. “Through
their participation in this innovative program, Royal LePage realtors
are showing an amazing spirit of generosity and commitment to our
community.”
Two of the three participating Royal LePage partners know first-hand
the importance of The Ottawa Hospital. Kent Browne, Broker/Owner
of Royal LePage Team Realty, is slowly recovering from a bad skiing
accident he suffered this past winter and which left him bedridden
for three months.
“The experience of being tied to a bed and a wheelchair has
opened my eyes to the hardships many live with on a day-to-day basis,”
said Mr. Browne. “It also made me much more aware of what
services are provided by The Ottawa Hospital. I am grateful to be
so near such wonderful care. It will be a pleasure to launch this
initiative because I know that every dollar generated will be put
to good use at The Ottawa Hospital.”
For his part, Pierre de Varennes, Broker/Owner of Royal LePage
Performance Realty, has also been touched by The Ottawa Hospital.
“My wife, Danielle, was diagnosed with cancer three years
ago,” said Mr. de Varennes. “Today, she is undergoing
careful monitoring to stay ahead of this disease. This could not
be done without the necessary care provided by doctors and nurses,
and a well-funded hospital with the newest of diagnostic equipment
and treatment systems.”
“We are thrilled to join forces with The Ottawa Hospital
Foundation on this initiative,” said Phil Downey, Broker and
Co-Owner, along with Jonathan Ralph, of Royal LePage Gale Realty.
“The Ottawa Hospital is a critical asset to this community
and, with this program, we can help Hospital staff and patients
support much-needed improvements at all three campuses.”
Ottawa’s three Royal LePage franchises, Royal LePage Performance
Realty, Royal LePage Gale and Royal LePage Team Realty comprise
at least 600 agents in offices from Rockland to Carleton Place and
Ottawa to Kemptville. Their combined market share of 36 per cent
makes them Ottawa’s number one realtor. The three firms also
operate a joint corporate relocation venture with Royal LePage Canada,
which handles 80 per cent of all local corporate relocations.
The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is a multi-campus, academic
