Rattle Me Bones Race Raises $50,000 for Ottawa Hospital

(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) – More than 1,100 runners and walkers of all ages brought in $50,000 for patient care and research at The Ottawa Hospital at this morning’s 2005 Rattle Me Bones race. Now in its 12th year, Rattle Me Bones has raised more than $350,000 for improvements at The Ottawa Hospital to date.

“I am thrilled with this year’s results,” said Kent Woodhall, Race Director and Planning Coordinator at the Hospital’s General Campus. “The success of Rattle Me Bones is thanks largely to the efforts of the countless volunteers and to supporters in the community.” Proceeds from this year’s race will go toward improvements at the Hospital’s General Campus, including the new Critical Care Wing, which will feature 17 state-of-the-art operating rooms, a new Intensive Care Unit and a new Chronic Pain Management Centre. Funds will also go to support leading-edge arthritis research.

Rattle Me Bones features four components: a 10K race (Wishbone), a 5K race (Funnybone), a 5K walk (Chickenbone) and 1K walk for kids under age 10 (Jigglebone). It has been ranked the region’s second largest local road race for several consecutive years, and is one of the most popular and fastest growing timed races in the area.

The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is a multi-campus, academic health sciences centre, serving 1.5 million residents of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, both in English and French.
