Charity Golf Tournament Raises $223,000 to Help
Purchase New
Equipment for Eye Institute
(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) – Members of the Royal
Ottawa Golf Club (ROGC) today raised $223,000 for The Ottawa Hospital
Foundation during their annual Royal Ottawa Golf Club Charity Classic
Golf Tournament.
The funds will help purchase new retinal scanning equipment for
the University of Ottawa Eye Institute at The Ottawa Hospital. The
advanced imaging technology—the only equipment of its kind
in North America—will allow Eye Institute scientists to more
precisely diagnose, treat and, potentially, cure age-related vision
disorders like macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema.
“Now, more than ever, The Ottawa Hospital needs support from
community leaders like members of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club,”
said Susan Doyle, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
“We are truly grateful for their generosity and are pleased
to consider them our partners as we work to build a better hospital
for our region.”
“The Royal Ottawa Golf Club is proud to support The Ottawa
Hospital again this year during our annual golf tournament,”
said Graham Macmillan, Tournament Chair, Royal Ottawa Golf Club
Charity Classic, and Managing Director, RBC Capital Markets. “We
are pleased to help the Eye Institute as it works to find new treatments
and a possible cure for age-related vision disorders. We are all
expecting that research advances will help our putting abilities
going forward!”
