The Ottawa Hospital Foundation Announces Grand Prize Winner of the 2005 Ottawa Hospital Lottery!

(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) – The Ottawa Hospital Foundation today announced Mary-Ann McGrath, of Almonte, (ticket number 014473) as the lucky winner of the 2005 Ottawa Hospital Lottery. (Mrs. McGrath) has won a million-dollar estate home package!

Here are the names of other lucky winners of this year’s lottery:

  • Peter Casey of Nepean (010249) has won a choice of a $150,000-country home or $100,000 in cash.
  • Larry Dewing of Gloucester (034908) has won a 2005 Ford Lincoln valued at $52,283.
  • Corey Carlisle of Nepean (021032) has won a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac valued at $37,379.
  • Margretta van Den Aker of Cumberland (023074) has won a 2005 Ford F150 XLT valued at $35,608.

Other prize highlights include an East African Safari, a Grand Canyon Adventure, a personal fitness package, 24 sun-soaked vacations, $145,000 in jewelry, M-Y-HOME shopping sprees worth $20,000 each, portable colour TVs, Espresso/Cappuccino makers and much more.

A complete list of lottery winners will be published in the June 6 editions of The Ottawa Citizen and Le Droit. The names of the winners will also be posted on The Ottawa Hospital Lottery Web site.

“Thank you to everyone who bought lottery tickets this year,” said Susan Doyle, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation. “Each ticked purchased makes a wonderful contribution to improved healthcare in your community.”

Proceeds of the lottery will help fund a number of improvements in patient care at the Civic, General and Riverside Campuses of The Ottawa Hospital, including:

  • Doubling the size of the emergency departments and converting them into state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Doubling the number of beds in the intensive care units of the Civic and General Campuses.
  • Adding 17 new, state-of-the-art operating rooms.
  • Purchasing vital diagnostic equipment, such as a CT scanner right in the emergency department.

It provides comprehensive, high quality, patient-focused health care services, in English and French, to over 1.5 million residents of Eastern Ontario, and specialized and complex services for residents of Northeastern Ontario.
