Ottawa Senators Alumni Face Off Against Canadian Sledge Hockey
Team to Promote “HOPE & HEROES” Fundraiser
(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) - Former NHL players took on
members of the Canadian Sledge Hockey Team at the Corel Centre today.
The event was held to promote “HOPE & HEROES”, a
fundraiser organized by Ottawa Senators Alumni and The Ottawa Hospital
Foundation to support The Rehabilitation Centre at The Ottawa Hospital.
Funds raised during the second annual “HOPE & HEROES”
event – set to take place on March 30 – will go toward
the Brain Injury Rehabilitation program at The Rehabilitation Centre.
“In our community, approximately 2,000 people will suffer
a brain injury this year, hundreds of whom will require intensive
rehabilitation,” said Dr. Shawn Marshall from The Rehabilitation
Centre. “We are thrilled that the Senators Alumni and The
Ottawa Hospital Foundation have once again joined forces to help
us expand our facilities and offer the very best in rehabilitative
care in our community.”
Last year’s fundraiser brought in $50,000 for The Rehabilitation
Centre; this year’s goal is $60,000.
“We are proud to support the work of The Rehabilitation Centre,”
said Brad Marsh, President of the Ottawa Senators Alumni. “’HOPE
& HEROES’ is a great event and we hope to have a full
house again this year.”
“HOPE & HEROES” will take place in the Confederation
Ballroom at the Westin Hotel on Wednesday, March 30. It will include
raffles, dinner, awards and feature a special performance by Derek
Edwards – a regular on Just for Laughs and voted Best Male
Stand-Up Comedian at the 2004 Canadian Comedy Awards.
Tickets for the event are $85 each. They can be purchased at participating
Scotiabank branches, by calling 798-5555, ext. 19821, or by visiting
the Foundation’s Web site at www.ohfoundation.ca.
This event is made possible thanks to the generous support of Scotiabank
