Equipment Needs for The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre
Government funding doesn’t cover
the cost of most equipment; it is only available thanks to the generosity
of donors in the community.
As part of the 20-20 Campaign, funds
raised will help The Ottawa Hospital purchase state-of-the-art equipment
to provide the best care to thousands of cancer patients. Your support
will give our health care workers the proper tools to do their important
work, and provide comfort and care to our cancer patients.
Listed below are some examples of the critical equipment needed
at the Cancer Centre. For more information on this or additional
equipment required for The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, please
call 613-761-4295.
Please note: Equipment may not be the exact models pictured
here.

| Chemotherapy Treatment Chair
Patients undergoing chemotherapy sit for three hours, on average,
to receive their treatment. These new, larger chairs will
provide much-needed comfort, as well as allow staff to rapidly
adjust the patient to a reclined position to provide urgent
care if necessary.
Cost: $4,500 each |

| Blanket Warmer
During lengthy chemotherapy treatments, patients can become
cold and uncomfortable. This equipment warms blankets that
can be given to keep patients comfortable. These blankets
are also used to warm the patients’ arms, which dilates
the veins and makes it easier for nurses to administer the
medication.
Cost: $7,000 each

| Infusion Pump on IV Pole
It’s easy to forget just how critical an infusion pump
can be because it is such a commonly used piece of equipment.
However, infusion pumps and poles play a critical role in
cancer patients’ lives every day by allowing heath care
workers to administer fluids and chemotherapy drugs safely.
This piece of equipment is in high demand because of the increase
in the number of cancer patients the hospital cares for every
year.
Cost: $8,500 each
